Gold miner reports assays from South Carolina mine


In breaking news Thursday, Romarco Minerals (TSX: V.R, Stock Forum) announced assay results from its Haile Gold Mine in South Carolina. The company says hole RC-1505 encountered 12.2 meters of 2.83 g/t Au, nine meters above another interval of 39.6 meters of 8.8 g/t Au. RC1505 ended in mineralization and will be reentered and extended.

Centamin ups reserves view at Egypt gold mine


Gold explorer Centamin Egypt (CNT.AX) said the reserves estimate for its Sukari gold mine in Egypt had increased by 72 percent to 6.4 million ounces.

Company hopes to expand N. Idaho gold mine


SANDPOINT, Idaho (AP) – Officials at a gold and silver mine in northern Idaho say they want to increase production. JoAnn Corley, mining engineer for the Shoshone Silver Co., says the company plans to expand production at its mine at the southern end of Lake Pend Oreille.

Gold, silver recovery ‘exceeding expectations’ at Mexico mine


TORONTO (miningweekly.com) – The recovery rates being achieved at Minefinders’ Dolores mine, in Mexico, are “exceeding expectations”, the company reported on Tuesday. Minefinders said it produced about 14 169 oz of gold and 282 429 oz of silver in the first three months of 2009, which was the first full quarter that the mine was in operation.

Lundin Mining issuing 80 million new shares for $164 million


TORONTO — Lundin Mining Corp. (TSX:LUN) is issuing at least 80 million new common shares in a bought deal worth $164 million. Lundin, with 487 million shares outstanding, said Friday that the underwriting syndicate led by GMP Securities has a 30-day option on 12 million additional shares at the same price of $2.05 per share, raising the issue’s gross proceeds to $188.6 million.

Copper, gold & silver mining boost in Chile, Peru


SANTIAGO: Hopes that the global economic meltdown is beginning to ease thanks to the number of stimulus packages are giving sheen to the mining industry in Peru and Chile.

The Latin American countries—Chile and Peru—are the world’s two largest copper producers. Both the countries are also hot destinations for mining in other precious metals like gold, silver and zinc.
